My Love For One Tree Hill
Posted on November 27, 2009 in Misfits.
I have gone and bought the One Tree Hill box sets starting from season one. I love it! It has become a ritual to get into bed and watch an episode every night before I go to sleep. At the moment I am on season four of the series.

Season 4 - One Tree Hill
My favourite character, unlike most, is not Lucas. My favourite character is Peyton. I love her art and, above all things, her music.Oh, and I love her car!!!

Out Of Action
Posted on January 19, 2009 in Misfits.
Yes, I have been out of action for most of the past week. That’s not only my blog but the rest of the Internet too.
Other than the fact that out Internet was down, ugh, I was trying to catch up on some reading before University starts where I am left with absolutely no time to read what I want. That’s what happens when you study English. You read many many books (most of them you don’t really want to read).
I’m starting the day off with a bang though. I have decided to go jogging and do my push ups (more about them later). Jogging is a good thing to do rite now as it gives me time to listen to my ipod. I really need to chose music and decide on the songs that my various classes will be dancing to (in competitions that is). There is so much preparation before a class that people never realise and that we don’t get paid for.
So yes I am officially starting my first day back at the studio today. It’s nice though as I don’t start University yet (that only starts next week) so I can get used to my dancing routine before I add more to my – already hectic – days.
Medical Discoveries
Posted on October 20, 2008 in Misfits.
So we all know that the medical field is an ever changing one, with constant new discoveries and new ways of practicing. These two discoveries are rather interesting and important in the medical world.
Phone rashes.
Doctors have discovered a rash that develops from the use of cellphones. The red itchy rash that normally develops on the ear and cheek of people who use their phones A LOT is now known as “mobile phone dermatitis“. The rash is caused from an allergic reaction to the nickle surface on some phones.
Apparently many doctors had no idea that a phone could cause this condition. I’m in the same boat as them.
Do you want the Bee Gees to save your life?
Doctors and medical students have found that “Stayin Alive” by the Bee Gees is the perfect rhythm for doing CPR. The American Heart Association requires that chest compressions performed during CPR have to be done at a rate of 100 per minute. Thanks to this song, which is almost an exact match to that rate, it is made easy to remember and to keep the correct time. Who would have ever thought that “Stayin Alive” could save your life? Now it can. lol.

I think this video is very appropriate as well as amusing.
Living in a Fairytale world?
Posted on June 22, 2008 in Misfits.
Sara Bareilles’ song Fairytale puts a twist into the traditional fairytales that we were told as kids. I absolutely love the lyrics to this song. I have always had a love for changing fairytales into more modern versions and this puts it in a song!
“Fairytale”
Cinderella’s on her bedroom floor
She’s got a
Crush on the guy at the liquor store
Cause Mr. Charming don’t come home anymore
And she forgets why she came here
Sleeping Beauty’s in a foul mood
For shame she says
None for you dear prince, I’m tired today
I’d rather sleep my whole life away than have you keep me from dreaming
[Chorus:]
’cause I don’t care for your fairytales
You’re so worried about the maiden though you know
She’s only waiting on the next best thing
Snow White is doing dishes again cause
What else can you do
With seven itty-bitty men?
Sends them to bed and calls up a friend
Says will you meet me at midnight?
The tall blonde lets out a cry of despair says
Would have cut it myself if I knew men could climb hair
I’ll have to find another tower somewhere and keep away from the windows
[Chorus]
Once upon a time in a faraway kingdom
Man made up a story said that I should believe him
Go and tell your white knight that he’s handsome in hindsight
But I don’t want the next best thing
So I sing and hold my head down and I break these walls round me
Can’t take no more of your fairytale love
[Chorus]
I don’t care
I don’t care
Worry bout the maiden though you know
She’s only waiting spent the whole life being graded on the sanctity of patience and a dumb
Appreciation
But the story needs some mending and a better happy ending
Cause I don’t want the next best thing
No no I don’t want the next best thing
Deepest Darkest Africa
Posted on April 14, 2008 in Misfits.
So they say candlelight is supposed to be romantic. They also say that candlelight makes things look better than they might normally look.
Tonight i found myself questioning these ideas. Why did I land up questioning them? Well Eskom, that’s why! Need i say more? Load-shedding might be what we need at the moment but when you have to teach dancing in the dark and without the music it really is not fun.
Not only was that irritating but living in South Africa today everyone knows there are issues with crime so being a few girls left late at night in a pitch black school alone, is not fun.
I have to admit though, the candles were a nice touch and I have never seen the studio look so good as it did tonight, lol. As for my dancers, they looked in pretty good shape for just having had a three week long holiday. So there really are some things that are good about candlelight. I have to admit that it ads an extra bit of fun and excitement to the situation as well.
