Changes

Change – Defined in Wikipedia as the process of becoming different. It’s also one of those words that starts to sound really weird if you say it over and over and over again. Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change, Change.

So there have been a lot of changes lately in my life. Some of which I can mention at the moment and some which I can’t.Many people are afraid of change, afraid of the unknown. I agree it can be scray.

At the studio we lost a teacher and gained another. It’s horrible to lose a colleague who is so close. The worst part is that she was not just a colleague but a friend too. People move on in life and I find that change is a good thing. It should be embraced. I am very happy for her and her new job but I  will miss her.

Another change…my 20 Something Bloggers page looks different. I changed my appearance. Not a big change, but a change non-the-less.

Not all changes in life are big rite? But most changes in life are good. They open up many doors and opportunities that might not have been there before. What I’m going on about now doesn’t have anything to do with my appearance change on 20sb, but maybe soon I can reveal what I’m truly babbling about. For now though, I will continue to think of change as a good thing – I am open to change.

Donzelle Show 2008

Yey! Our show DVD finally arrived. I have to say the videographer did an awesome job and the quality of the DVD is the best we have ever had from one of our shows. Here are a few screen shots from the show itself.

New Year On It’s Way

WOW! There’s a new year coming already.

Am I the only one that feels this year has simply flown by? There are so many things that I promised myself I would do and so many that I didn’t even get close to. So I have really been thinking about my new years resolutions for 2009. I’m really trying to make them reasonable and possible to keep. But before I get to my resolutions for next year I’d like to look back at the good in this year.

I’m so happy to say that my mom (after having breast cancer) is clean for her 3rd year now.

My cat Sushi is still alive. I love him very much and to be honest, he’s getting very old. I don’t want him to die.

Matt and I have been dating for 2 years now.

I had a great birthday this year (I was very spoilt) and spent it with great people. Normally I hate my birthdays.

Had a great End Year Show.

Passed my second year of University.

After uploading all of those holiday pictures I want to go on holiday now and can’t remember what else was good this year, but honestly it was a good year, with great people and lots of fun. Lets hope next year will be even better?!

Happy Day Today

So today has been a good day. Besides the fact that I was up until 3am doing an assignment on Martha Graham as an auteur, and so exhausted for the rest of the day, it was still good.

I had a great day at the studio. I love it when we give our all in class, you always feel so good afterwards.

I also found out that if you search Megg Wilson in google I am number 1…number 1. Yey. Quite surprising as it is such a new blog.

I also recieved Natasja’s photo’s from the dance fun day and they are very cute. It was a bonding day for the dance studio and it was a dress up too (the theme being dance of course). The teachers all decided to go 80′s for the day… what a laugh. We really didn’t decide to all wear those purple leotards, it was an accident. Worked out well though.

Ouch!

So… I Hurt my foot doing Wings. Fun. Well that was no fun. Wings for those of you who don’t know are a step done in tap dancing. They take a while to master and a lot of practice, sweat and tears – like most things. For more information on wings click here.

I still haven’t been to a physio therapist, which is wrong i know. I have been doing exercises to strengthen my ankle again though. It’s really painful! Does anyone have ideas of how I could possibly lessen the pain and strengthen it quickly? I know things like this take time and if it was one of my students I would tell them to be patient, continue with the exercises and just take it slow for a while, but it’s a lot harder to do than it sounds. How many people take their own advice?

I also just started dancing again after my operation so at the moment I am sick of sitting around and really just want to dance, it’s a disease.

YouTube and Expert Village are really being difficult and not letting me check out any videos, so I can’t suggest any to you but feel free to check out these pages and watch some of the videos so that you can see what wings are if you don’t already know.

Weekend Fun?

My weekend started off rather well yet busy. I went to dancing and then rushed to take my mom to the doctor. The doctor practiced Iridology on her which is where she takes a photo of your eye and then from that can tell what is wrong with you. It’s really fascinating.

Friday evening an old friend of mine (Lisa), Matt, and I went to a play which was put on by the Tuks Drama department. It was horribly boring and we found ourselves along with 80% of the other guests leaving after the 1st half. I love theatre, but that was just a bit much.

Last night we went to a girl i dance with, Denise’s, 21st. We did an opening dance there, which was great fun. The theme was African Zulu and a wonderful night overall. Matt even langarmed with me. It was the first time he had ever even tried and i have to say he was surprisingly good at it.

Deepest Darkest Africa

So they say candlelight is supposed to be romantic. They also say that candlelight makes things look better than they might normally look.

Tonight i found myself questioning these ideas. Why did I land up questioning them? Well Eskom, that’s why! Need i say more? Load-shedding might be what we need at the moment but when you have to teach dancing in the dark and without the music it really is not fun.

Not only was that irritating but living in South Africa today everyone knows there are issues with crime so being a few girls left late at night in a pitch black school alone, is not fun.

I have to admit though, the candles were a nice touch and I have never seen the studio look so good as it did tonight, lol. As for my dancers, they looked in pretty good shape for just having had a three week long holiday. So there really are some things that are good about candlelight. I have to admit that it ads an extra bit of fun and excitement to the situation as well.
