I get to see my baby again – another doctors visit
Posted on May 4, 2012 in I heart.
So today was another exciting day for us. We got to see our baby again. Waiting to see the doctor, I picked up a decaf cappuccino and found this awesome quote on my sugar.
And then I got to see my little baby again. This time baby was fast asleep and the doctor had to try wake my baby up to get proper neck measurements for the downs tests. So while lying there having my tummy poked and prodded and being asked to cough in order to wake baby up, I also saw that my little baby has 10 fingers and 10 toes. Wooooohooooo!!!!!
The doctor can’t see if baby is a boy or girl yet. Tried to look for boy parts but couldn’t see anything, so he thinks it may be a girl. What do you think he/she looks like? Boy or Girl?
Advice from my hubby – Less formalities
Posted on May 3, 2012 in Pen on paper.
OK, so Matt thinks my blogging is a bit too formal. He pointed this out to me in a whole bunch of post I’ve made. At first I didn’t believe him. I didn’t want to believe him. And then I had a closer look. He is so right! Thanks Matt!!!
“You are writing a blog, not a text book.” he says. So, i’m going to try my best to be less formal and more casual, and as I’m writing this post I still have to go over-and-over it to dumb it down. Plain English!!!!! I’ll have to keep reminding myself of this.
Oh my word, this is so flippen difficult for me to do. Less commas, simpler punctuation, shorter words, more casual, plainer English. So much to think about and remember. This goes against everything that I was taught to do in my studies. I have always loved creative writing and I find it very difficult to write academically – or so I thought. Mission accomplished by my lecturers. I guess studying English and having to write academically rather than creatively has left it’s mark. I didn’t even realize how formal I write, and hearing it shocked me at first because “I hate formal writing” and I always feel ”I am a creative writer!”. Well I’m obviously not any more. So I’m going to do as many creative writing exercises I can get my hands on.
I think the secret to more creative writing is not thinking too hard and to just write.
I feel a little better though because Matt needs to start blogging in a more formal tone as he is getting into the financial, banking and enterprise programming industry.
Unnecessary changes when converting a novel into a Hollywood narrative movie script – One for the money
Posted on May 2, 2012 in Misfits.
One thing I really can’t stand is when good books are changed when changed into film scripts. I understand that time is limited when making a movie and really long movie’s do get tiring and boring to watch. But, changing information that never needed to be changed and putting the real stuff in wouldn’t have taken any longer and would have been just as or even more entertaining, that really gets to me.
The “Hollywood narrative” is famous for this. Why, I don’t know. Here is a classic example of this. I am still busy reading “One for the Money” and just from watching the trailer (not the movie, just the trailer), I can already count at least 5 unneeded big changes. That irritates me. For those of you that have also read the book, watch the trailer for unnecessary changes. For those that haven’t read the book, it doesn’t look like a bad movie. I can tell you though that already the book seems better to me.

Dance stage makeup inspiration – part 1
Posted on April 30, 2012 in Misfits, Sequins & feathers.
With my studio’s upcoming dance festival in May I have been searching for some new inspiration regarding stage makeup.
I love stage makeup! As theatre studies was one of my majors at university and the makeup and costume design my favourite part of that, I like to always put a little extra effort in for my students when it comes to makeup.
So here are some new ideas…
Baby Journal
Posted on April 29, 2012 in Pen on paper.
I started keeping a journal when I first found out I was pregnant (on an app on my iPhone). This worked to a point and I had good intentions of later changing it to a pretty digital copy that I could print.
A colleague and friend of mine, upon finding out about my pregnancy, convinced me to buy a really pretty journal and do it the old fashioned way – by hand. So I did. I found the perfect journal and started straight away. I have stuck all our scan photo’s in and started writing all little things that people have been saying. We are super excited about our new addition.

5 household tips to make your life easier
Posted on April 2, 2012 in How to.
Here are a few simple and wonderful things to keep in mind around the house. Things, that make you think “oh, I could have thought of that”, but you just never did.
1. Use the pillow case of a set of bedding to store all the sheets neatly in. This way everything stays together and stays neat.

2. Ever wondered how to fold those horrible, but, oh-so-needed fitted sheets? Here’s how.

3. What a clever and healthy thing to do. Microwave your own popcorn in a brown paper bag. Much healthier than shop bought microwave popcorn, yet easier and quicker than the old fashioned pot on the stove.
BEWARE: I tried this, many years ago, and set the microwave on fire. I would NOT suggest you do this. Rather, put a little more effort in and pop your popcorn on the stove.

4. Use cutlery trays to hang and organise your jewelry. This is super easy.

5. Ever wondered how to perfectly iron a shirt (even in between the buttons)? Well use your hair straightener. Super easy, super quick and super efficient.

Happy living. For more where this came from go check out the Daily Buzz.
