Medical Discoveries
Posted on October 20, 2008 in Misfits.
So we all know that the medical field is an ever changing one, with constant new discoveries and new ways of practicing. These two discoveries are rather interesting and important in the medical world.
Phone rashes.
Doctors have discovered a rash that develops from the use of cellphones. The red itchy rash that normally develops on the ear and cheek of people who use their phones A LOT is now known as “mobile phone dermatitis“. The rash is caused from an allergic reaction to the nickle surface on some phones.
Apparently many doctors had no idea that a phone could cause this condition. I’m in the same boat as them.
Do you want the Bee Gees to save your life?
Doctors and medical students have found that “Stayin Alive” by the Bee Gees is the perfect rhythm for doing CPR. The American Heart Association requires that chest compressions performed during CPR have to be done at a rate of 100 per minute. Thanks to this song, which is almost an exact match to that rate, it is made easy to remember and to keep the correct time. Who would have ever thought that “Stayin Alive” could save your life? Now it can. lol.
